Meet Calvin...

When you choose Calvin’s Climate, you’re working with people who care.

20 years ago, when Calvin Schoessler enrolled in North Lake College’s HVAC program, he had no idea that someday he would operate his own HVAC company. Calvin excelled at North Lake and rose to the very top of his class. Upon graduating, he was eager to start his career.

Early in 1998 he became aware that the company he was working for was not servicing their customers ethically, and they insisted that their employees sell over-priced repairs and replacements even if they were not needed. This put Calvin in an awkward position, and he started to search for a job where he could service the clients in an ethical manner-- offering fair prices and dependable service. His clients could rest assured that they were not sold services or equipment that was not needed.

Calvin never found that company.

In the beginning of the year 2000, Calvin made a leap of faith. He studied for and received his Texas State HVAC license. He then invested in a commercial insurance policy and a Ford pickup stocked with as many parts as the truck could possibly carry. Once the company name and phone number were selected, he set out to build his company one client at a time. He had a strong conviction to treat people as he wanted to be treated.

Calvin’s Climate was now open for business. All he needed now was customers. The first three years were tough. He tried countless marketing ventures on a limited budget, and the brand of equipment that he so strongly believed in and wanted to sell required that he was in business for a minimum of three years, operating at the highest standards, all while maintaining an aggressive sales quota. These requirements forced Calvin to settle on a lesser brand of equipment.

In 2003, thanks to the wonderful clients that gave us the opportunities to be their trusted A/C company, the Carrier corporation accepted Calvin’s application to become a Carrier dealer. This new achievement, paired with a strong customer base full of wonderful people who constantly referred Calvin’s Climate to their friends and family, started a new era for calvin.

By 2008 Calvin eliminated the majority of all advertising in order to help keep operating cost as low as possible. The cost of marketing was driving up the cost to his clients. Tracking how new clients heard our name uncovered that 85% of all new clients came from quality referrals from existing clients, and 10% came from the Internet. These figures proved that this decision to reduce advertising would benefit both Calvin’s Climate, and most importantly his clients.

Calvin’s style of building his company one client and one referral at a time has served him well. As of 2009, we are known throughout the greater Flower Mound and Lewisville areas as THE trusted source for honest advice and superior technical know-how.

Calvin’s wife Angela came on board full time in 2008 after a sales career and is a “work-from-home” mom to three children.
