What is Puron® refrigerant?
There is a lot of talk in the industry about the upcoming regulations that are eliminating the manufacture of R-22 freon for the good of the environment. Luckily, Calvin’s Climate is a Carrier dealer, and Carrier was the first company to use Puron refrigerant over 10 years ago. Other companies also market a similar product known as R-410A refrigerant.
Puron refrigerant is used in residential and light commercial air conditioning and heat pump systems. It is the substance that helps the system remove heat from indoor air and transfer that heat or cold to the outside air; the key to any comfort system.
Chemically, Puron refrigerant is an environmentally sound 50/50 blend of two separate refrigerants, R-32 and R-125. Consumer products featuring Puron refrigerant were first marketed in 1996.
Families now have the choice to ask for an air conditioner or heat pump that uses the non-ozone depleting Puron refrigerant when buying a system for their home.
